- The Andrew W. and Jane Stewart Smith Seminary Scholarship Fund is a generous gift by the Smith Family for seminary scholarships for individuals attending seminary. The income from this fund will benefit students for decades with a profound impact upon the Kingdom of God. Scholarships are awarded twice a year to candidates who complete an application and meet the guidelines below.
Guidelines for the Andrew W. and Jane Stewart Smith Seminary Scholarship

- 1. Fall Applications must be received by April 1st – Spring Applications must be in by October 1st

- 2. The Foundation grants seminary scholarships each year. Each scholarship is based upon the information in the application and degree/certificate program. Most scholarships require attending a United Methodist approved seminary.

- 3. Applications will be accepted from United Methodists primarily from the
- Western PA and Susquehanna Annual Conferences who either(1) have sensed
- God’s calling upon their life for ministry, (2) are seeking a theological education
- at a United Methodist approved Seminary, and (3) are preparing for a church
- vocation in the United Methodist Church.

- 4. Master of Divinity Scholarships Awards are through the Board of Ordained
- Ministry application process.

- 5. Doctor of Ministry, master’s degrees or certificate programs offered by a
- seminary are awarded through the Foundation.

- 6. A recipient must normally be a full-time student.

- 7. Scholarships will be awarded for one year. A recipient must reapply for
- consideration for a scholarship for a subsequent year.

- 8. Checks will be made payable to the institution for the student’s account. A
- recipient's seminary will be asked to confirm the recipient's enrollment,
- attendance and status at the institution.

- 9. Generally, applications will be approved by the Foundation Board of Directors
- at their May and December Board Meetings for distribution for fall and spring.
- Awardees may be asked to write a brief summary of their educational
- experience promotional purposes.

- 10. The decision of the Board of Directors is final.
